Connecting with God

Do you yearn for God – His presence, will, word, fellowship, love, in a word His person? I find that when this longing wells up within me, often there is a questioning of what I’m actually seeking of Him. I don’t know exactly, because He is everything, and no thing, knowledge, or act can satisfy my desire, but Him alone, such is the hunger and thirst that calls from deep within my soul. Then, I see and understand that with the same longing, He is reaching out for me. The love within that calls to God is met by more of His love calling to me. The presence that I seek with Him is met by His desire for my presence before Him. He is all powerful and omniscient such that as my small spirit reaches out two lengths into the Spirit dimension, His Holy Spirit has traveled a light year of lengths to meet me with exponential amounts of the same desire I have for Him. Then it seems, He enfolds me into His everlasting arms and I can fathom no more, but a taste, a glimpse, a whiff of all He is and I turn away, lest He overwhelm me.

Has that happened to you? Does it happen regularly? Is He becoming more to you? Are you beginning to look for more of the supernatural, the realm of the Spirit? I’m reminded of Yeshua when He was a boy and stayed in the Temple and later during His Ministry when He frequently returned to the Temple. He had a desire to be near the Fathers presence. I don’t think I’m alone in these encounters, it may have been a similar situation when Nathaniel met Yeshua the first time. “When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite in whom there is no deceit.” “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.” Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the king of Israel.” Jesus said, “You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” He then added, “Very truly I tell you, you will see ‘heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on’ the Son of Man.” (John 1: 47-51). Nathaniel must have had a Spiritual experience under the fig tree at that time, to make such a confession about Yeshua. Moreover, Yeshua promised that Nathaniel would have greater visions of the supernatural realm. God meets us where we are.
