Small Notes and Shading

I got out of bed, came back, She poured into my hand small kernels of popcorn. “That would have been uncomfortable to sleep upon…it was on your side…there is still justice then.” There is often a lot more to a story than is told. It’s the same in art, the highlights in a painting get all the attention, but they are nothing without shading. In our favorite songs there are lyrics that are not clear or raise questions. The words belted out in loud distinct voices full of emotion and ringing with loud impressive tones call our attention, but these are laid upon a foundation of rhythmic cadence interspersed with words of creative sound and accent, rather than meaning. You and I are no different. We fit within the art of God’s majestic design with purpose and meaning from every corner and within layers of translucent color creating depth and dimension to His work. Each person like a note quick in succession or drawn out and sustained, each has a purpose that can not stand alone, that is meaningless without those in relationship and contrast.

The Bible says often, “Whoever has ears, let them hear.” We can close our eyes and mouth, but not our ears. We always hear, but not always listen. There is a resounding chorus of love and wisdom calling out to each person over the road-noise of society and our own mumbling cries for whatever we think we need or want. Understanding comes through faith, receiving that which can not be seen, the confidence and assurance of what is yet to come. You have a destiny. Will you own it? You must surrender to God because whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for God will save it. Your true life is hidden in Yeshua. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” (Colossians 3:3-4) Its a journey, we travel along quiet flowing streams, shaded paths, dry wilderness, glorious peaks and difficult climbs, but in the end we will find glory, if we are following Yeshua. The next time you feel insignificant or unloved, remember that each of us are very precious in our own specific way, and God has made us members of His family.
