Loves Demand

Love makes no demand, but it speaks and calls out. We all have heard it many times, often maybe, and we have also ignored it until its last echo subsided. Who’s is that voice? Scripture teaches and introduces by definition that which we are so longing to possess, though it can never be owned, only practiced. Even so, how foreign it is to our fallen nature, and beautiful, not of this world, but it is too high too deep, how can I attain a thing of glory. I am unworthy.

Love is patient, (waits to speak)
love is kind. (Says only nice)
It does not envy, (wants nothing)
it does not boast, (is quiet)
it is not proud. (Thinks of others)
It does not dishonor others, (holds critique)
it is not self-seeking, (gives)
it is not easily angered, (doesn’t mind forgives)
it keeps no record of wrongs. (Forgets past)
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. (Seeks good)
It always protects, (defends others)
always trusts, (accepts what comes)
always hopes, (expects good)
always perseveres. (Loyal)
Love never fails. (Remembers)
(1 Corinthians 13: 4-8)

John says, “Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in that person. But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him: Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” (1 John 2:4-6) He says it many ways and contrasts God’s love with the world, light and darkness, truth and a lie, life and death. “In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:3-4) this is the command: “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.” (1 John 4:20-21)

This is the message of Yeshua Messiah in word, deed, and purpose. “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. (1 John 4:14-16) “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12)

Among all this are two things which give me hope; “This is how we know that we live in him and he in us: He has given us of his Spirit…We love because he first loved us.” (1 John 4:13,19) My hope is in Yeshua, that He will do in me what I cannot do in myself, that He will pour His love into my heart and draw it out again to others. His Holy Spirit is at work in me, this I know full well. Moreover, His love has washed over me and swept me away in the current of His will. I surrender.
