Too Good To Be True

There are promises and truths in scripture that are ours as children of God and members of God’s family. They may sometimes seem too good to be true, but this is reality. Lest we doubt our standing in Yeshua before the Father consider a few scriptures affirming this:

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.” (Colossians 1:21) “Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” (1 Peter 2:10)”…remember that at that time you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” (Ephesians 2:12-13) “Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.” (Ephesians 2:19-20)

Based on our position in Messiah, together with Israel, the apostles and prophets, these scriptures are applicable to us. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose…Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?…For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:28, 35, 38-39)

“In that day you will ask in my name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. No, the Father himself loves you because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God…. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:26-27, 33)

These are just a sampling of the good promises, blessings, and truths that are ours in Messiah Yeshua, (Hebrew for Christ, Jesus). In our fallen human nature we cannot attain these realities through reason or rationalization, God’s grace and love is beyond our mental assent. To lay hold of the things God has done and prepared for us requires jofaith. There comes a time in every Believers life, that we give up all effort, striving, reasoning and simply answer, “Yes, I accept everything, I accept you, and surrender completely to you.” This is Salvation, His righteousness for our sin, His payment of our debt, and more than we can ask or imagine in the life and the next.
