The Way Of Life

But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. (Hebrews 12:22-24)

Amidst this spiritual reality of blessing, family, the congregation of sanctified Believers, and Yeshua Messiah King; there is another temporal reality of suffering, harassment, oppression and persecution. It varies greatly, but every Believer tastes it to some degree or another, because what Yeshua experienced, we will also. (John 15:20) We in America speak with little experience, but we can suffer as Lot did living in Sodom. “…Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)…” (2 Peter 2:7-8) In other countries these scriptures are fulfilled, “You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death. Everyone will hate you because of me.” ( Luke 21:16-17) History is full Believers being persecuted because of their faith. It seems forgotten that America was founded by Believers who sought freedom to worship Yeshua as they believed in scripture. Now it is not uncommon for Christians to experience persecution in school, work, or in public places. Nevertheless, God is working through it all. “…the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.” (2 Peter 2:9)

Life is too short to be distracted by the vanity of this world. There are too many who need the message of salvation and God’s lovingkindness. His mercies are new every morning. Yeshua asked the disciples whether they would leave like many had, when He taught about the cost and hardships of following God’s way. “Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.” (John 6:68) One moment in the presence of the Lord, knowing His majesty and glory, experiencing His love and mercy, is greater than much worldly pleasure, in which there is no satisfaction or fulfillment. Faith grows and becomes a great spreading tree though it began as a small seed. Reach out in faith to receive that which the Spirit offers, you will not be disappointed; His gifts and call are irrevocable. (Rom.11:29)
