I have been following the politically driven events that have become so consuming in recent years. I think its partly a consequence of the isolation that social media and the covid virus have brought upon us. By reaching out to discuss current events and hear how others are interpreting them feels like a connection. The impact of this isolation upon us and society at large can not be understated.
However, Believers will be delivered from these detrimental side effects as we hold firm to our Lord and Messiah. The Holy Spirit is our comfort and guide in all circumstances; when uncertainty and confusion abounds in our secular society His leading is essential. In fact, He will lead us in relationships both spiritual and natural. The gifts of the Spirit are designed for the benefit of others within the Congregation of Believers. (1 Cor. 12:7) We need to keep our focus on the Kingdom, more than that of this world. As the old hymns say, “This world is not my home.” As I say this, I admit l have struggled as our society falls apart into division and insanity. It can be a fascinating intellectual pursuit to try and make sense of an upside down society controlled by an oligarchy of Humanist Media barons. However, I do think it is a precursor of the end times. (Luke 21: 31)
More than once, the Spirit has reminded me of what really matters. “Join with me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, but rather tries to please his commanding officer.” (2 Timothy 2:3-4) I’m not judging anyone who comments on current events, politics, or what is happening in America or the world. It is a time when the powerful message of the gospel of Yeshua, Messiah is needed more than ever. It is also a time for every Believer to be in step with the Holy Spirit. We may not be able to rely on past church practices and structures in the future. The time for a mere profession and acknowledgement of The Lord, Yeshua will not be an adequate substitute for a robust personal Spirit filled relationship. By keeping our highest allegiance to God, we can watch and wait for His prophetic word to be fullfilled and the return of Yeshua, Messiah.
