Talking to Jesus

This is the title of a song by Elevation Worship featuring Brandon Lake. I had to read the lyrics to get into it, because it sounds like a conversation more than a song; then…the Spirit began speaking. This song is my theme, possibly yours too, if you are an intercessor or worshipper of the God who is there. He says,

“There’s no wrong way to do it
There’s no bad time to start
It don’t have to sound pretty
Just tell Him what’s on your heart
‘Cause it’s not a religion
‘Cause it’s more like a friendship
Just talk to your Father
Like you are his kid.”

This is the real thing from someone who knows of what he speaks. Its not entertainment per se, but a spiritual encouragement and exhortation. The chorus is, “What a friend we have Jesus”, which is a fitting.

The thing about entering into conversation in the Spirit is change – intrinsically. It may take a moment, time to lay down the burdens, needs, and longings… whatever, but then in his presence there is peace. There is time to address everything, but entering before Him transforms all. He knows all things and is the answer, no problem is too great for Him. This is why we enter, knowing He is God who made us, and we are His, giving thanksgiving and praise. (Ps. 100:3-4) When Martha encountered the Lord, as Lazarus her brother lay buried in a tomb, Yeshua had to remind her of who He was and what she knew. “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?” “Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.” (John 11:25-27)

This is relationship with Yeshua, (Jesus’ Hebrew name) and it is eternal life. Nothing is more sacred, more holy, more effectual.
