What is waiting just beyond the limit of your current Faith walk? The followers of Yeshua (Jesus’ Hebrew name) began to see how important faith was and asked Him to increase their faith, “He replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.“Suppose one of you has a servant plowing or looking after the sheep. Will he say to the servant when he comes in from the field, ‘Come along now and sit down to eat’? Won’t he rather say, ‘Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after “that you may eat and drink’? Will he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.’ ” (Luke 17:6-10) First, He explains the power in a tiny measure of faith showing that faith is realizing the impossible. Then, He gives an illustration of authority, duty, humility and surrender, so that our focus should be on humility and obedience. I’m fairly sure this was not the answer the Apostles expected.
What we need is an ear and heart attuned to the Holy Spirit’s voice. It is not within us to reach out and grab what God ordains, the Spirit is the key to everything that pertains to life and godlinesses. He is a person, near, dwelling within, so why does it seem otherwise? The problem lies with us, rather than Him, we often lack faith or fail to pray adequately.
“Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”(Matthew 17:19-20) On another occasion He explained, “After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” (Mark 9:28-29)
“Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” (John 17:3) Do you hunger and long for more of God? Have you sought Him and continued with all your heart, mind, soul and strength? Are your deepest cries and prayers to God still fresh on your mind and heart? Has the fire within of His presence cooled or do you fan it and feed it with obedience, humility, trust, faith, prayer, in fellowship among His family? More than anything are you surrendered to His will, shedding the influence of the world and its burdens? Has the world’s troubles and discipline’s hardship hardened your heart and strangled the flow of Love and Spiritual communion? “Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,”
(1 Peter 2:2) Nothing has or can separated you from the Lord, hope remains and His promises remain firm, unrestrained not diminished. Kingdom purposes can be affirmed, by the power of His name. “For “you were like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” (1 Peter 2:25)
