Isaiah was called with a vision of God who gave him this charge. “He said, “Go and tell this people: “ ‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’ Make the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.” Then I said, “For how long, Lord?” And he answered: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left deserted and the fields ruined and ravaged, until the Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is utterly forsaken. And though a tenth remains in the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the terebinth and oak leave stumps when they are cut down, so the holy seed will be the stump in the land.””(Isaiah 6:9-13) God accepts reality, He makes it. This prophecy is multidimensional showing God’s sovereignty, justice, mercy and truth. He is Sovereign over the heart of mankind. He is Just, as destruction and ruin follow those who reject His word. He is merciful to leave a remnant and in the end keep His promise to save His people. He is truth, in that, every word is foretold and confirmed in reality.
Over a thousand years after this message, Yeshua (Jesus’ Hebrew name) spoke in parables to the unbelieving crowds who heard, but did not understand. The cities of Israel where ruined, uninhabited, deserted and the people sent into exile exactly as foretold. Also, a remnant was left in the land, during Jeremiah’s and Nehemiah’s time up until 1947 when the nation was restored by God’s promise. Finally, restoration of the nation signals the returning Messiah who will fulfill God’s intent to remove the calloused heart of Israel bringing understanding, repentance and healing. This will be the delight of all creation when, “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son.”…“On that day a fountain will be opened to the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, to cleanse them from sin and impurity. “On that day, I will banish the names of the idols from the land, and they will be remembered no more,” declares the Lord Almighty. “I will remove both the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land. …This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’ ” (Zechariah 12:10; 13:1-2, 9) The fulfillment of God’s desire and promise to Israel will be the fulfillment of unity for the Congregation of Believers among the nations, the prodigal son and brother united with the Father as one family. (Luke 15:11-31) Prophecy is unfolding, “Then he told me, “Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, because the time is near. Let the one who does wrong continue to do wrong; let the vile person continue to be vile; let the one who does right continue to do right; and let the holy person continue to be holy.” (Revelation 22:10-11)
