How to Live Today

“What I mean, brothers and sisters, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they do not; those who mourn, as if they did not; those who are happy, as if they were not; those who buy something, as if it were not theirs to keep; those who use the things of the world, as if not engrossed in them. For this world in its present form is passing away.” (1 Corinthians 7:29-31)

Paul wrote to this to Corinthian Believers so they would know how to live in uncertain times of crisis. His purpose was to free them from worldly concern so as to live in undivided devotion to the Lord. He acknowledged this was not the Lord’s command but his best advice based on experience. Many scholars think the Apostles were anticipating the Lord’s eminent return. (See 1 Peter 4:7; 1 John 2:18; James 5:8) Two thousand years later, should we have any other perspective? Aren’t our times uncertain and filled with crisis after crisis? In America many Believers are enmeshed in the things of this world. Our society and government were founded upon Christian principles which provided safeguards for right living. However, many of these have been torn down by a secular Federal government and rouge Supreme Court in recent years. This  deconstruction of our “Christian” nation by woke, secular humanists, socialists, and profligate neopagans is accomplished against the will of the American people and  causing crisis and uncertainty as never before. Through the last one hundred years we have had foreign wars, economic turbulence and drastic transitioning brought about by technology, government corruption, and degradation of the American Church. Apostasy in the “Church” is by far the greatest source of our current crisis.

Yeshua said, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.” (Matthew 5:13) Episcopal, Lutheran, Presbyterian and Methodist church organizations have each had critical divisions as a result of leadership rejecting fundamental scriptural principles to accommodate and accept women and Homosexuals in leadership roles. All sorts of apostasy have accompanied this acceptance of worldly behavior, including a quiet denial of the Lord Yeshua, himself. The Lord sent evangelists such as Billy Graham, Pat Robertson and David Wilkerson to strengthen that which remains. He has poured out revivals upon America through an awakening of the Holy Spirit in the Azusa Street and Jesus Movement revivals, this one during a worldly “Sexual revolution”. In the mid-nineties there were smaller revivals such The Toronto Blessing, the Melbourne Revival, the Modesto Revival, the Brownsville Revival, the Howard Payne University revival under the preaching of Henry Blackaby, The Promise Keepers Revival and this year the Asbury University Awakening. Yeshua, fill us with your Spirit so we will know how to live in undivided devotion to You.
