Intercession Unceasing

“Isaac prayed to the Lord on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.” (Genesis 25: 2). To Intercede on anothers behalf before God almighty is a royal act. It is said about Yeshua Messiah, “Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.” (Hebrews 7: 25). Yeshua is the mediator between God and man, so when become like Him when we intercede for others in prayer.

One can’t read the Bible and not see the importance and power of prayer. It is a selfless act the seems as nothing to the worldly mind. Often people will say, “our thoughts and prayers will be with you”, but I noticed in a public address that our Mayor dropped the “prayer”, saying only, “our thoughts will be with you”. These sentiments of comfort are worthless for it is in believing prayer that God’s mercy, grace and compassion are released. God hears prayer, particularly in the name of Yeshua, and though he knows our thoughts before we think them, He answers prayer. There are too many instances, examples, anecdotes, illustrations, and accounts of prayers effectiveness to deny the faithfulness of God’s word.

Will you put all your confidence in Him? Will you look to Him, relying solely and primarily, on God’s promise and lovingkindness? Will you make God your first source for help and supply? Prayer is the pathway of surrender and submission to God’s perfect will. The Apostle says, “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people… (1 Timothy 2: 1). No credit accrues to us when we intercede for our friends, even our enemies and opponents, all credit and glory is given to God who alone is worthy. Yeshua said many times, “Ask, seek, knock…”. He knew the Fathers giving heart and He knew that God is pleased to answer our prayers, cries and petitions. The next time the Spirit brings someone to your mind, begin to intercede without specific knowledge, but in faith, expecting the Spirit to supply the expression. God knows everything before it happens and He responds perfectly and just in time.
Scripture encourages us, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” (Ephesians 6: 18).

Your greatest acts of faith, courage, duty and insight, may be accomplished through intercession. No one may ever know in this life what power of God was released because you were standing watch in the Spirit and responded to His call to prayer. God’s army of prayer warriors have taken their positions on their knees bowing before the King of all the Universe, Yeshua Messiah. All glory and praise belong to Him, He alone is worthy.
