It’s really difficult to disconnect from this world, it’s lure, tentacles, traps, demands, upon our journey through it. Where is the line between living in the world, but not of it. It’s the difference between light and dark, good and evil, Spirit and flesh, life and death, but we are weak and fallen in our human nature. Our weakness is not a problem in the context of accomplishing God’s will and purpose for God’s power is perfected in weakness. (2 Cor. 12: 9). Peter gives us a list of character qualities in which we do not want to be weak. “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 1: 5-8).
Yeshua is described, “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.” (John 1: 9-10). He prayed for His followers, “I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. They are not of the world, even as I am not of it.” (John 17: 14-16). We are not to live by the standards of this world, nor are we to conform in any measure to its ways. “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” (1 John 2: 15-16).
Just as we have different measures of faith in regard to what we eat, drink, and holidays we observe, we exercise different degrees of living in this world, and the Spirit and Word should be our guide in all things. Lord help us to cut off every worldly influence, entanglement, and connection that is contrary to unity in You. When we approach Yeshua in Spirit and truth we separate from this world and unite with Him and then to His body of Believers on earth. John was in the Spirit on the Lords day and He recieved the Revelation of Messiah. (Rev. 1: 10). The Apostle described this connection in his invocation to the Ephesians, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.” (Ephesians 1: 18-21). The Holy Spirit is in you, surrender to Him and enter into union with Yeshua in the Kingdom of God and the Congregation of Believers.
